Get into the Zone

Sunday 19th May 2024

10.30am to 12.30 pm

Newquay Orchard

These monthly sessions are held in a quiet location on a Sunday morning, the perfect time for a bit of downtime.

You may have heard of the phrase ‘being in the zone’, ‘in a flow state’ or ‘being at one with the task in hand’. You may have experienced this yourself & loved the way it made you feel, but maybe you haven't found an activity that does this yet or felt the benefits of being in a flow state?

We have put together a programme of creative makes designed with this in mind. Each make is simple to learn yet gently challenging and absorbing with the relaxing elements of rhythm and repetition.

You will need to bring your motivation so please ask yourself the question. Am I interested in this challenge?

If the answer is yes please join us with an open mind and a sense of curiosity as to what this experience may bring.

You will explore and experience the components that make up a good flow session and learn how flow alters our state of consciousness & benefits of overall well-being.

This is a shared experience but once the demonstration and instruction has been given you will be creating in your own space for the majority of the session.

There will be regular short breaks and time for discussion at the end. I will be on hand for any additional guidance or questions you may have.

The overall aims of the session are for you to feel accomplished having mastered a new skill and leave feeling rested, refreshed and restored.

Our second monthly session explores the Cornish hedge, a rich, diverse & beautiful habitat full of life and full of wonderful shapes and patterns.

You will learn 2 simple meditative drawing techniques to create an illustrative imaginative pieces of artwork. To be displayed in a delicate concertina sketchbook.

Feedback from our lovely participants

“I love going to Helen's nature journaling sessions. They are, literally, the highlight of my month! I struggle with various long term health conditions which, in turn, leave me with a low mood and struggle to go out. But Helen's sessions always leave me uplifted. And I have learned SO much, which leaves me with a hunger to learn more. I always delve deeper into nature research following a nature journaling session. Helen is awesome.”

“I’ve been taking part in Nature Journalling for several months now and have gained a huge amount from the experience. Meeting with like-minded people with an appreciation for the natural world while sharing thoughts, experiences and creative ideas is always a joy. I find the sessions uplifting and I always go away inspired.”

“I have always loved nature, right from a child. Now in my older years it is so enjoyable to be able to get close to nature and record the changes through the seasons using various invitations from Helen. I get a lot out of our journalling sessions, not only for nature, but being my mums full time carer it gives me that protected time to be me."

Our first monthly session explores the ancient tradition of Labyrinth making, dating back over 4000 years. This fascinating art is used for giving a blessing and meditative purposes. Labyrinths have a strong link to Cornwall and their long history can help connect us to our ancestors.

We will be creating our Labyrinth from a soft and tactile air dry clay, feeling the beautiful rhythm of the design. You will have time to create several palm sized Labyrinths ensuring you can enjoy and master this creative process and see your work morph and develop as your creativity and intuition grows.
